Drivers of the circumferential variation of stemflow inputs on the boles of <i>Pinus sylvestris</i> L. (Scots pine)

The spatial variability of stemflow on the bole trees has rarely been focal point studies, despite its potential importance for stemflow-induced changes to soils. This study helps close this data gap by supplying quantitative possible drivers circumferential variation boles two Pinus sylvestris L. (Scots pine). Hence, objectives present were quantify tree stems and assess how some biotic abiotic factors affect variability. Continuous observed within a mature stand Scots pine during 20-month period (May 2018 December 2019) showed existence preferential flowpaths around stem, with patterns distribution differing between trees. Data suggest that (trunk lean, bark morphology neighbourhood) have greater influence than (rainfall intensity peaks). Our comprehensive spatio-temporal fine-scale measurements strongly support prior observations non-uniform stemflow. Further studies across species aboveground vegetative surfaces are needed improve our mechanistic understanding dynamics vis-à-vis rainfall interception processes gain further insight as alters stemflow–soil interactions.
